Tickwell for Mac, iPhone and iPad

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a task?

On the Mac, click Add task in any list or press ⌘N. On iPhone, tap the + button in the bottom corner; on iPad, use + in the sidebar. You can write the date into the task itself — "Call the dentist tomorrow at 10", "Pay rent every month on the 1st" — and Tickwell sets the due date and repeat rule from what you typed.

What do the Today and Upcoming views show?

Today groups anything overdue together with what's due today. Upcoming lays out the days ahead. On iPhone and iPad it has a small calendar on top: tap a day to jump to it.

How do dependencies work?

Mark a task as waiting on another from its detail view. On the Mac each project opens as a chart of those links; on iPhone and iPad the Dependencies screen lists what's blocked and what's ready to start. Blocked tasks are flagged, never locked — you can always tick them off.

Can I organise a long project?

Yes. Nest sub-tasks under any task, and add labels and priorities. Search accepts queries such as "(today | overdue) & p1" or "blocked" to narrow things down.

Where is my data stored? Is anything uploaded to you?

No. Your tasks live in a single file inside the app's own sandbox on your device. If you're signed into iCloud, that file is also kept in your private iCloud account through Apple's iCloud service. Nothing is ever sent to us or to any third party.

Which devices are supported?

Mac: macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on Apple silicon and Intel. iPhone and iPad: iOS / iPadOS 17 or later.
